Fun abounds

I was catching up on Merdith's blog  last evening and saw this fun meme.   First time to post a game so here we go

Here's the deal:
If you want to play, leave a comment on this post letting me know, and I’ll assign you a letter. You write about ten things you love that begin with your assigned letter, and post it at your place. When people comment on your list, you give them a letter, and the chain continues on and on...  Mer assigned me the letter "F".

1. Family - Blood relatives, church family, life long friends all hold special meaning for me in days of both joy and sorrow.

2. Fern - the name of a lovely shade of green that I've chosen for my list.  Life is too full of black and white.

3. Fame - not in a prideful sense but tis nice to be singled out by others for those things I do well.

4. Fortune -  Wealthy enough to not have to worry about money and to be able to give hiliariously.

5. Frugal - a trait worthy of having to have wealth become more of a reality.

6. Fun - Keeps me from getting too agenda driven and promotes laughter.

7. Fido - Though not the name of my Shitzu pup, Bandit, gives place to my faithful companion.

8. Faithful - Believing and trusting in God worthy beyond measure of my faith and devotion.  Loyal in relationships.

9. Finite - Realizing more and more each day the contrast between me (finite) and my Maker, Lover of my Soul, Unfailing Lord.  I'm discovering new found freedom in recognizing my limitations and having His strength made perfect in the midst of my weakness.

10. Freedom - Opposite of bondage.  Grateful to no longer be enslaved by shoulds, oughts and what others think.

Wow... fun to reflect a bit. Your turn.

From Thanksgiving to Advent...

Prior to having a personal relationship with Christ, I spend more time in liturgical churches which led us to Christmas "The Main Event" via Advent.  Today I'm grateful for a series of messages my pastor is preaching to cause us to really appreciate the season.  In addition, I'd like to share a youtube video that might cause us to think differently re: our approach to the season.

Being still

Being still is a real challenge for me... This holiday has been quieter than usual and I tend to block out the quiet with more computer games, facebook, etc.  Grateful for the blogs I read.  A Holy  Experience (http://www.aholyexperience.com/) and Bauserman's Cottage (www.bausermancottage.com)

Today I was blessed by this read in Holy Experience...  Am I the only one who needs reminding? I think not!

Lord, in You, we have all we need. All we need. All we need. Remind us. Again and again.

"Whom have I in heaven but You
And besides You, I desire nothing on earth."

~Ps. 73:25

Thanksgiving favorite

My Thanksgiving favorite has been gathering with friends for both feasting and fun.  The friends who host it call it an "Orphan's thanksgiving" as many of us are separated from our families so the familiarity of the gathering brings comfort.

This Thanksgiving will be different as I'll be gathering with different friends.

Wishing each and every one of you a Blessed Thanksgiving and a good start to the holiday season.

Thanksgiving on the horizon...

Today I'm grateful for:

  • Warmth of relationships
  • Hearing my Mom who is 94 yrs and has Alzheimers' greet me with "Hi ya darling" even as the rest of the conversation shows that her dementia is increasing.
  • Connections with folk who can help others
  • The post on my friend John's blog this am... http://thedirtyshame.blogspot.com/
  • Remembrance of my commitment to post thanks...
